From Loss to Budding Clarity: The Journey Behind Klarhet
Our story with hospitality began long before Klarhet. In the Twin Cities, we designed unique Airbnb spaces that brought joy and beauty into everyday life. We loved the opportunity to shape how people felt in a space — to see their mood shift toward ease, inspiration, and connection.
But behind the scenes, our family was walking through years of infertility and unexplained miscarriages. Then, in 2020, everything changed. We were overjoyed to become pregnant with identical twin girls — a dream we had carried for so long. Yet at our scheduled delivery, we learned that one of our daughters had passed away. Her sister, while tiny and fragile, survived.
That moment was a profound turning point. Faced with both immense grief and unexpected joy, we felt a clear call to change our lives completely. We left the city and moved north, inspired to create spaces that would help others connect with nature, disconnect from technology, and reconnect with themselves and the people they love, just as we hoped to do on our own path toward healing.
This dream became Klarhet — four geodesic domes nestled into 25 acres of regenerative food forest. Through these domes, we welcomed guests from all over the world into heart-centered hospitality experiences. Over time, Klarhet not only became a sanctuary for travelers but also supported our family’s deeper dream: to create a regenerative farm, grow our own food, and share that abundance with others.
Through a decade of hosting — nearly five years at Klarhet — we’ve learned what makes hospitality not just successful, but meaningful. We’ve discovered how intentional design, personal touches, and weaving our passions into the guest journey create experiences that command premium rates, optimize your time, attract the right guests, and leave a lasting impact.
Now, we’re ready to share that knowledge. Klarhet is entering a new chapter — becoming not only a place to stay, but a place to learn. Our first course series is designed to help other hosts, creatives, and dreamers create more meaningful, heart-centered travel experiences around the world — while also optimizing their hosting experience. We’ll share what we’ve learned about creating spaces optimized for profit, streamlining systems for efficiency, marketing with ease, and building the right support team so that hospitality not only delights your guests, but sustains your lifestyle and personal dreams.
