Children Under 5

Due to the unique characteristics within the dome that are not easily mitigated to ensure the safety of young children, we are unable to host any children under the age of 5 at this time. This is a requirement that is not able to be flexed in any way. We appreciate your compliance and understanding of this policy.

Dome Specifics: What To Expect?

This unit features a one-of-a-kind geodesic dome created with beauty and sustainability in mind. Guests can expect a private, completely unique stay with an environmentally friendly focus.

  • All linens are organic, sustainably sourced, and washed in eco-friendly/non-scented detergent to ensure the comfort of all guests.

  • The domes are crafted from a climate-specific reinforced steel frame and two fabric liners to create a unique structure customized for this exact environment. Keep in mind, however, it is a beautiful, albeit, glorified tent.

  • SUMMER: A screen door and large ventilation flaps with screens are provided to promote adequate ventilation, though like a standard tent in the woods, does not come with AC. In the summer during the hottest part of the day, it can get very warm, particularly in the loft. Keep in mind that this northern region experiences very few hot/humid days and primarily remains very comfortable in the summer, particularly at night so sleeping conditions remain optimal. We provide large fans to help move air as needed.

  • WINTER: YES, WE’RE OPEN YEAR-ROUND! In-floor heat, passive solar gain, and pellet fireplaces keep the space toasty and comfortable in the dead of winter.

  • Please also understand that when it is windy/storming outside it can be loud and this is expected. The wind can get extreme in this area year-round, and the trees naturally bend and sway quite a bit with the weather, which can appear concerning to some that aren’t used to this type of environment. Storms are pretty fun to watch, however, from the comfort of the dome!

Can I bring Fido?

We love pets (obviously), but due to the nature of the site, we are unable to host outside pets at this time. This rule is firm, so please don’t inquire about exceptions unless your pup is trained and certified as service animal. Emotional support animals do not qualify.

Cart-in Access

The space is cart-in access meaning all guests must park in the designated parking lot, load their belongings into the provided carts, and walk roughly 100-600 ft to their dome (distance varies based on dome location). No vehicles are allowed beyond the parking lot. This was strategically designed to ensure the desired serene feeling of the land is preserved.

We’re in project and play mode

We are in the early phases of cultivating a biodynamic food forest through sustainable reforestation practices and have many projects actively in the works. You may hear power tools at work from time to time. We follow strict working hours from 9-4 daily. Reach out to learn more about what we’re up to—we love sharing what we’re up to!

Goats, Chickens (and Rob)

We do currently have chickens and goats on site. They are an important part of our biodynamic farm design.

We have a rooster, aka Rob, who wakes up early and serves as our resident alarm clock and protector of the flock. Please note you may hear Rob in the early hours of the morning while on site. We hope he serves as an inspiration to wake early with the light to fully experience a slow Klarhet morning.

Quiet Hours

We follow strict quiet hours on-site from 9 pm - 9 am daily.

The domes are strategically placed for optimal privacy between them so while inside, one cannot see another dome or people around them ensuring tranquility. While details remain muffled, noise is audible outside if loud music or conversations are underway. Please respect the space and the experience of all guests by keeping music and noise within the dome or outside at reasonable levels at all times, but especially during quiet hours.

WiFi & Connectivity

There is no WiFi on-site. This was a conscious decision we made to allow for and promote disconnection if one desires. Cell reception, however, is generally great in the area and there are sites nearby with access to WiFi if one needs to download a large file, etc.

Payment and Cancellation Policy

Payment schedule:

50% due at time of booking. The remaining balance is due upon check in.

Price per guest over 2 people:

$30/person per night after 2 guests. This rate will automatically be applied upon booking and is in place to cover additional use and cleaning costs incurred with larger groups in the dome.

Cancellation Policy:

100% of paid prepayments are refundable when canceled 30 days before arrival or earlier. 0% refundable if canceled after*.

*If the weather on the day of travel makes passage impossible or dangerous, you can reschedule your stay to new dates within 30 days of the original reservation. No refund will be given for the difference of newly booked dates if the date change results in a lower rate. Guests will be responsible for the difference if newly booked dates result in a higher booking rate. We are not able to offer a refund on unused nights due to any circumstance resulting in the cancellation or rescheduling of a booked stay within 30 days of the original reservation. Only one rescheduling event is permitted per booked reservation due to a weather event. Guests must notify the host by phone call prior to 4 pm CST on the day of planned arrival to be eligible for rescheduling a stay. We are often booking out over 30 days in advance at this point, so please plan accordingly.

TRAVEL INSURANCE IS HIGHLY SUGGESTED TO ENSURE A REFUND DUE TO WEATHER AS WE WILL NOT BE MAKING ANY EXCEPTIONS REGARDLESS OF AVAILABILITY AND APPRECIATE YOUR UNDERSTANDING. Travel insurance should be purchased through a third party of your choosing.

Please also note we can no longer offer any exceptions to our cancellation policy due to Covid-19. We provide a completely contact-free and private experience for anyone who desires, ensuring a safe lodging option for all. Personal travel insurance is advised.

Entrance to our grounds includes going up a steep driveway and while we're on a well-established route, roads are often very slippery during the winter months. An all-wheel or four-wheel drive vehicle along with season-appropriate tires is strongly recommended for the most ease while traveling along the North Shore in the winter months.

Damage Deposit

No damage deposit is due.
