Host with heart
Design an experience you can trust — instead of constantly fixing one.
A design-led mini-course for experience providers who want to move from reactive, effort-heavy hosting into clarity, trust, and ease — whether you’re shaping your first space or refining an established hospitality offering.
This isn’t about doing more, upgrading aesthetics, or chasing growth.
It’s about designing your experience intentionally — so ease, clarity, and confidence are built in.
This work is for people creating experiences for others — at any stage.
You don’t need to have everything built yet.
And you don’t need to start over if you already have.
Host With Heart is for people who want to create experiences that are meaningful, memorable, and sustainable to live inside — not just impressive to run.
This includes:
past guests who feel called to create something of their own
people imagining a future hospitality or experience-based space
current hosts who sense their work could feel easier and more coherent
restaurant owners, retreat creators, tour operators, and experiential brands
What matters isn’t the category of your work —
it’s that you’re designing something other people step into.
When an experience is designed intentionally, it stops depending on your constant attention to work.
When the core feeling is clear:
design decisions become simpler
your space begins to “hold itself”
guests feel the difference without explanation
and your role shifts from constantly managing to ease
Ease does not come from doing less, it comes from coherence.
The common thread
Most people don’t struggle because they lack effort or care.
They struggle because the experience they’re creating was never clearly anchored to a single, intentional feeling.
Without that anchor:
decisions pile up
changes feel reactive
the experience becomes harder to trust
and the work quietly starts pulling from you instead of supporting you
This course exists to bring that anchor into place.
The Core of This Work
At the center of Host With Heart is a guest-lens design approach.
Instead of designing from habit, trend, or pressure, you learn to shape your experience from the guest’s lived perspective — so it naturally gives people what they want and then some.
When an experience is designed this way:
guests feel held and remember it
word-of-mouth happens without prompting
decisions become simpler
and the work becomes easier to sustain
This lens is what allows an experience to:
sell itself, support steady demand, and free up energy for the life you actually want to live.
Over time, this is what creates freedom — not from responsibility, but from constant decision fatigue and self-abandonment.
How Host With Heart Supports You
This course supports you in designing experiences that feel clear, coherent, and trustworthy — for both your guests and yourself.
Host with Heart gives you a design lens that helps you:
see your experience through the guest’s eyes
clarify the core feeling your experience is meant to hold
design flows and moments that quietly support demand and ease
-
At the core of this course is a guest-lens design practice.
You’ll step into your experience the way a guest actually lives it — from first contact to departure — and evaluate it through feeling, flow, and clarity rather than assumptions or habits.
You’ll clearly see:
where the intended feeling is supported
where it breaks down or gets diluted
where moments land — and where they quietly miss
This lens becomes something you can reuse again and again.
Over time:
transitions make sense
systems support the experience instead of fighting it
and the work becomes easier to hold — for you and for your team
This approach applies across experiences:
lodging, restaurants, retreats, tours, workshops, and place-based environments. -
When an experience is designed from the guest’s perspective — with a clear emotional anchor — people tend to notice real, practical shifts.
Not overnight.
Not magically.
But consistently.People often notice:
guests naming why the experience felt special
stronger emotional connection and trust
organic word-of-mouth without prompting
return visits that don’t rely on discounts or constant upgrades
Nothing flashy changes.
What changes is that the experience starts to sell itself — because it’s coherent, memorable, and easy to say yes to.
For the host, this often means:
fewer reactive decisions
less emotional labor
more steadiness and confidence over time
-
This practice is for you if:
you’re tired of competing on amenities, price, or novelty
you want your experience to feel unmistakable without overdoing it
you value restraint, story, and intentional design
you want loyalty without burnout
you’re ready to design once — thoughtfully — and let it last
This isn’t about impressing.
It’s about creating an experience people remember, return to, and share — while still having a life you enjoy living.
-
Host With Heart stands fully on its own.
Many people arrive here after designing one magnetic moment — ready to bring that same clarity across the entire experience.
Others arrive because they want hospitality to support their larger life:
their family,
their health,
their creative work,
their freedom. This course was originally created to answer a simple question:
How do you design an experience that feels meaningful for guests — and sustainable for the people holding it?
This is one way we’ve done exactly that.
There’s no rush.
You’ll know when the work wants to deepen.
Why this approach works
Most experiences are built by adding.
More features.
More touches.
More effort.
But what actually creates memorable, soul-felt experiences — and sustainable businesses — is coherence.
When an experience is designed from a clear emotional intention and shaped through the guest’s lived perspective, the nervous system relaxes — for the guest and the host.
Guests feel:
oriented instead of overwhelmed
cared for without being managed
present instead of rushed
Hosts experience:
fewer reactive decisions
more trust in the experience itself
steadier energy across seasons
ease in customer interactions
This isn’t theory.
It mirrors how living systems work in nature.
Growth doesn’t come from force.
Vitality doesn’t come from pressure.
Ease appears when the conditions are right.
By designing from the guest lens — and anchoring the experience in a single, intentional feeling — the experience begins to hold itself.
Marketing becomes organic.
Decisions become simpler.
The work becomes inhabitable.
Not because you’re doing less —
but because the design is doing more of the work for you.
This is why experiences built this way don’t rely on constant promotion — they create their own momentum over time.
Host With Heart is structured as a short, focused framework you can move through at your own pace — and return to whenever you need clarity
The course is organized into five core modules that build coherence, confidence, and ease over time.
Module 1 — The Guest Lens
Learn to see your experience the way guests actually live it — emotionally, physically, and through time.
Module 2 — Clarifying the Core Feeling
Define the single feeling your experience is designed to support, and use it as a steady anchor for decisions.
Module 3 — Designing From Coherence
Translate feeling into form so space, flow, light, and materials work together without overworking.
Module 4 — Story & Signature Moments
Turn your passions and values into meaningful moments guests remember and talk about.
Module 5 — Integration & Trust
Bring everything together into a simple framework you can live inside as your experience evolves.
This is not about doing more.
It’s about designing once — thoughtfully — and letting the experience hold.
Inside Host With Heart
“It’s been 4 days since we left and settled back into our regular life, but not one day has gone by without reminiscing about our stay here. At first this was going to be our “girls vacation,” but upon arriving and spending time on the land with the animals, the flowers, and nature, I soon realized staying here was much more than that. It is not just a vacation, it’s an experience! That experience is very much what you make it, whether it be snuggled up in the most comfortable bed with a good book and a cup of the FINEST coffee ever while looking out the panoramic window, or walking around the property alone or with Nicole as she shares their vision for this paradise tucked in the woods, or sitting by the campfire laughing with the other people staying there, it’s really up to you! You can do as little, or as much as you like!
The owners, Kirk and Nicole, were so down to earth, kind and helpful too. They always stopped & visited on the path, and were eager to share places to go for the day. We wanted to see a moose, so Kirk told us where we’d see one, and he was right! Overall, you just leave Klarhet feeling better than when you arrived. For selfish reasons, I don’t want to share this place with anyone, but for selfless reasons, I want everyone to know about this magical little place in the woods. We loved it, and will definitely go back!”
-Wendy (former Klarhet guest)
